The Gastein Valley is one of the most versatile regions for trail running in the Alps. Over 600 kilometers of trails lead through forests, across alpine pastures and along panoramic ridges – with views of peaks and mountain lakes.

From marked routes to individually plannable trails, Gastein offers a wide range for different requirements. Six selected trail running routes complete the offer and make the region a year-round experience.

Gastein is also known for the adidas Infinite Trails – an event that showcases the region’s potential and attracts trail runners from all over the world.

The trail running routes in the Gastein Valley are as varied as the landscape itself. From flat sections in the valley to challenging routes with metres of elevation gain, the region offers ideal conditions for every level.

adidas Infinite Trails in Gastein

At the beginning of September, the Gastein Valley becomes a meeting point for trail runners from all over the world. The adidas Infinite Trails, one of the most famous trail running events in the Alps, takes place here.

Four routes lead through the Gastein mountains – from the beginner’s route to the challenging ultra-distance with several peaks and numerous meters of altitude. The focus is on the team race, in which teams of three tackle the course together over several stages.

The combination of sporting challenge, alpine landscape and additional offers such as regeneration in the Alpentherme makes the event a special experience.

The Berglift is just a few minutes’ walk from the start and finish area, making it the ideal accommodation for participants and accompanying persons.

Your base for trail running in Gastein

The Berglift in Bad Hofgastein is the ideal starting point for trail running in the Gastein Valley. Many routes start right on the doorstep and lead up to the peaks and alpine pastures of the region.
